The use of ELKEM MICROSILICA® in fire-resistant gypsum board

ELKEM MICROSILICA® has been used in gypsum products for many years. It is known that the addition of small quantities of ELKEM MICROSILICA® in the mixture that forms the core of gypsum board, results in an improvement in the performance of the board in various fire tests.
This research was undertaken to test the effect of ELKEM MICROSILICA® on fire test results. Additionally, the aim was to better understand which product characteristics have the most beneficial and cost-effective impact in the production of gypsum board. These characteristics were microsilica type, particle / agglomerate size and addition rates.
